How Are Dollars Used?
The Renfrew Center Foundation is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization,
and therefore we rely upon donations from individuals, corporations,
foundations, and other organizations to fund our programs. A gift
to The Renfrew Center Foundation will increase our ability to continue
with our programs and develop new programs
aimed at improving the mental health and quality of life for individuals
with eating disorders through education, prevention, research, and
treatment.
Some examples of how the Foundation utilizes donations:
Treatment. Each year, The Renfrew Center Foundation aims to raise
funds for the treatment of eating disorders for those families who
cannot afford the necessary care.
Research. The Renfrew Center Foundation sponsors research
projects that assess the demographics and etiology of eating disorders,
the effects of residential treatment, and the efficacy of specific
treatment modalities. Our research projects are designed to further
an understanding of eating disorders and to improve the quality
of treatment and prevention in the field.
Education.
- Literature. The Renfrew Center Foundation produces
newsletters, brochures, posters, and diagnostic materials that are distributed
free of charge and can be utilized by doctors, therapists, schools,
families, and individuals to better understand issues related to
eating disorders.
- The Annual Renfrew Center Foundation Conference. The country's
largest annual conference of eating disorder professionals, The
Renfrew Center Foundation Conference attracts hundreds of therapists
and other mental health professionals interested in expanding their
knowledge and skills in treating women with eating disorders.
- Workshops and Seminars for Professionals and Consumers.
Workshops and seminars are conducted for psychologists, social workers,
mental health counselors, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals
in efforts to develop and enhance skills in the prevention, assessment,
and treatment of eating disorders.
